The country's only brazilian latin jazz singing couple Miguel and Evelyn Villamor-Juteau backed up by an equally versatile and accomplished band -- like Evelyn, Mike and Dix are bisaya speaking guys. They performed all the songs from their CD and the highlight was the original composition by Miguel Juteau, Melena Loca.
Knowing Evelyn on multiply, she acknowledged my presence which made me very happy because it was my first experience to interact with the artist. After the album launch at SM, I was able to meet the couple who were very warm and accommodating and we talked for a few minutes but it was as if we already knew each other years and years ago. Evelyn invited me to Jazz N Bluzz because they were invited to perform at 9PM. I was there to see the show together with my Pare Tinni and son Jae. Sitting in front, we were like judges in American Idol (Brasileira Edition). They played to their heart's content and the audience couldn't stop dancing!!! It was a great show even if the vocalist Ms. Evelyn suffered a sore throat after 2 performances the day before plus 2 gigs in Cebu but still she sounded like an angel. Unsa nalang kaha kung walay sore throat. MIguel's voice is like a combination of Chico Buarque and Kenny Rankin. His guitar playing was outstanding, having been a flamenco guitarist in his early days. I know they wanted to continue playing till the wee hours but since it was Sunday and they were very exhausted, they had to cut their performance to an hour but it they were supposed to play for 30 minutes only but got carried away by the audience.
So if you see any advertisement featuring the Aquarela, be sure to be there othewise you'll miss a great show. Looking forward to your second album, Evelyn and Miguel! More power and God bless!!
